Ludoj kun HTML5

Hi Josberto!

Welcome to our course on HTML5 Game Development! In this course we'll be going over what it takes to build a game specifically designed for the web. We're going to start out by releasing the first two units on Javascript and drawing images to the Canvas.

We want to thank you for waiting patiently while we got everything sorted out yesterday. There were just too many bugs that we wanted to get fixed before making the course live. If you find anymore issues, please let us know in the forums, it would really help out a lot!

Now, on to what you can expect from the course!

Remember, if you're not familiar with Javascript, we'll provide a brief overview of it and the basics of interacting with the browser in an optional supplementary unit. This should get everyone up-to-speed with the minimal knowledge of the language we'll need in the course. We won't be going in-depth into the language, the DOM, or browsers in general, just the bare necessities. This overview will be for anyone who's had experience in a C-like language.

After that, we'll be moving forward with drawing and animating for your game, player interaction, and further. By the end, you'll be familiar with a lot of the tricks and standard practices that game developers use, and be ready to apply them in building your own games!

One logistical note: the class is fully supported in the latest version of Chrome but you may experience reduced functionality in other browsers. Firefox works well for the most part, but Internet Explorer doesn't yet support all the features we'll be using during the course. Some of the HTML5 features we'll be using are a bit bleeding-edge, so keep that in mind!

We'll be making a few more announcements over the next few days about some other exciting course developments, so stay tuned, and let's get coding!

Saluton Josberto!
